This list only covers the habits we want to establish. Habits we already have, and preferences that are already being met, are left out. To add something, ask in the group chat. If anything here seems unreasonable or unrealistic, say so. Let's aim to never need reminding, but we all forget sometimes, so friendly reminders are welcome.
Kitchen
- Keep the sink clear when you're not using it, and empty the sink catcher when you're done.
- Wipe the benches when you're finished, and the stovetop if it needs it.
- It's fine to eat before doing your dishes. Just keep them out of the way of spaces others might want to use.
- Take out the rubbish when it's full, and the recycling when the lid won't close, rather than piling more on. If you're genuinely in a rush, leaving it for later is fine now and then, but most of the time you're not in a rush.
- Don't leave anything on top of the recycling bin.
Bathroom
- After using the basin, check it and the mirror for toothpaste, spit, hair or stubble.
- After using the toilet, check it's clean, along with the ledge at the end of the bath where hair collects.
- Don't leave your things around the basin after you're done in the bathroom.
Washing
- If the washing machine is in use and you want to go next, message the person. If it's urgent, ask them in person, as we don't always look at our phones.
- When you're using the clothes horse, check at least once a day whether your washing is dry, and put the clothes horse away once it's done or not in use.
Quiet hours
From 10pm to 10am, keep the noise down in the hallway and bedrooms.
